Watch the LA CSTS Broadcast now!
Watch Joss Whedon LIVE from CSTS Los Angeles Tonight!
Tonight's the night, people! Actually, tonight is a very big night as we have quite a few Can't Stop The Serenity events all over the world including Edmonton, Newcastle UK, Vancouver, Arlington, Boston, Logan & New York City, baby! But if you can't attend any, then the one you should be focusing on is the Los Angeles event, where Joss Whedon is making his LIVE appearance and it's being broadcast via the web!
That's right, tonight at Hollywood's Harmony Gold Theater, this screening of Serenity will also include appearances by actor Michael Fairman (Adelei Niska), from 'Firefly', the short lived television series that inspired the cult favorite film, as well as long time Whedon-verse regular Felicia Day. Joss Whedon will be there along with Jessica Neuwirth, the Founder of Equality Now and Amanda Sullivan, the Director of the Women's Action Network. There will be a presentation followed by a brief Q&A before the screening of Serenity and Dr. Horrible's Sing Along Blog.
ComiCenter LIVE, the online podcast talk show that focuses on the comic book and entertainment industries, will be broadcasting live video from the event, interviewing attendees and special guests, and capturing the reactions from the crowd on hand.
"We share a love of Joss Whedon and his work in both film and comics with the California Browncoats." Remarked Atom! Freeman, one of ComiCenter LIVE's hosts, "When we heard that they had sold every available ticket and had to turn fans away, we figured we could do what we do best, ask questions and broadcast the answers live."
To watch live, go to www.GeekWeek.com/live starting at 6:30 PST/9:30 EST

For all the left coasters out there, you'll not only get to support a good cause and win some fabulous prizes, meet some awesome Browncoats, watch Serenity and sing-along with Dr. Horrible, but this year you'll also get to hang in the same room as the man himself! I'd say that's a win/win if I ever heard one.

Can't Stop the Serenity's 5th Anniversary!

We are very proud to announce that Buffyfest will once again be a global sponsor for this year's Can't Stop the Serenity events, their 5th anniversary! This is our second year supporting the cause, which supports Equality Now through their awesome fund raising events around the world. The events give fans a chance to see the “Big Damn Movie” on the big screen, while helping to protect human rights of women around the world. From their site:
Founded in 2006, this year marks the notable 5th anniversary of Can’t Stop the Serenity. From a fledgling idea from the One True B!x to the multi-national event it has become, there is no doubt that, far from getting old, Serenity continues to draw crowds and good Samaritans from near and far: each screening donates money to Equality Now and other great causes while giving like-minded folks the opportunity to help charities without ever leaving a theater! With the fifth year off to a great start, its about time you see what all the fuss is about.
In addition to watching Serenity, and at some events, Dr. Horrible, this year 7 lucky cities will also be screening Browncoats: Redemption – A Fan Film for Charity, which will be released in September 2010.
The fun has already started in San Francisco which kicked off the CSTS season with the first event last weekend! Click here to find an event in your area. The official website is updated daily with registered cities and their ticket status...but if there isn't an event in your city, you could always host your own - no matter how small!

Can't Stop the Serenity Last Hurrah Auction

Can't Stop the Serenity is having their final fundraiser of the year with a "Last Hurrah" auction in support of Equality Now. They've already raised $128,000 and your bid will help them reach their pledge goal of $150,000!
There's some fabulous prizes, including a donation given to us by Kelley Armstrong, Angel comic writer. Kelley was nice enough to send a bunch of Angel goodies, including a signed original draft of Aftermath #1. We all read this original version while we still had it in our hot little hands and it's fantastic. It's fascinating to have a little insight from the original concept and compare to what was in the final print. The winner of the auction will be the only other person to ever get to read it besides us, Kelley and Mr. Whedon himself. A great item for any Angel fan!
Other prizes include a tour of the Dollhouse costume department and a Browncoat Fan Pack. Go check it out here.

My 'Can't Stop the Serenity' T-shirt Arrived
They didn't have the one I wanted when Bits and I attended our local NYC CSTS event, so I went ahead and ordered one....and look at how cool it is! What with Buffyfest listed smack dab in the middle on the back. We're so proud to have added to this great cause in our own little way. Again, check CantStopTheSerenity.com to see if there is still a 2009 event in your town - and don't hesitate to donate to CSTS any time of the year in support of Equality Now!

NYC Can't Stop the Serenity Recap
Can't Stop the Serenity in New York's East Village was definitely shiny! Bitsy and I had a fantastic time. There was dancing, there were prizes, there was of course, Serenity. From what I hear, the Browncoats of NYC raised somewhere around $6000 for Equality Now! This bunch really knows how to throw a party all while doing something amazing and important. We were very proud to sponsor and attend this sold-out event. Can't wait for next year!

Bitsy and I - Browncoat Style.

Fabulous door prizes and Silent auction items. There were so many prizes that many walked away with 2 or 3 gifts. And party favors to boot! Chinese food containers full of Firefly-esque charms and Serenity comics. Class.
