What Will the Fall 2011 Collection Include?

Even though we have almost two weeks left before Victoria presents her fall 2011 collection during NY Fashion Week on February 13th, I thought it might be interesting to compare her two previous fall collections and get your take on what you think may be included in the fall 2011 line.

Her first fall collection was back in 2009. Her sophomore collection was very successful and proved to the fashion world that Victoria was not just another celebrity attempting a clothing line, but rather a head-on designer in the making!

Like all of her collections, each on has a variety and several pieces that are both VB staples (think pencil dresses) and new show stoppers. In my opinion, the fall 2009 collection showcased four new trends for VB and they are (from L to R):

  1. Folded Bodices: The Giral dress was a new experiment with folding. Unlike the majority of her dresses, this piece had a folded neckline that was unlike anything we had seen prior to the collection's launch.
  2. Capes: Victoria showcased several different capes in the fall 2009 collection which was very different because this was the first time she branched into something other than the world of dresses. She also played with both masculinity and femininity in this collection with this very piece alone.
  3. Peplum Waists: The peplum waist was yet another focus in the fall 2009 line. This was also very new and unlike the stick pencil pieces, the peplum gave us a bit of variety.
  4. Floor Length Gowns: This was the first time Victoria experimented with floor length pieces. She included seven - most of which were adorned with sequins and floral appliques.

Her second fall collection was last year in 2010. This collection was, and remains, my ultimate favorite of all. With this line, Victoria proved that she is a fashion heavy hitter! Not only did she get rave reviews from critics, but the celebrity world completely embraced this collection and pieces from it where worn everywhere.... and I do mean everywhere!

Below are six of the focal points (in my opinion) visible in the fall 2010 collection (from L to R):

  1. Trench Dresses: The Dick Tracy era strongly influenced the fall 2010 collection and two of the main pieces that were dedicated to the comic strip were this black trench dress and the gold lurex one. For the first time, we saw Victoria experiment with wrap dresses.
  2. Teal Hues: Navy has been included in Victoria's collections since the very first season but this time around, she gave us fabulous teal hues to drool over! I still wish we had seen her in this piece!
  3. Metallic Jacquard Fabrics: We had been used to seeing Victoria's dresses in basic fabrics like silks and wool twill, but this was a first for metallic jacquard fabrics... something that was highly praised and beautifully put together.
  4. High Necklines: Yes, we had seen high necklines in previous collections but unlike the fall 2009 line that had several floor length pieces, this collection only had a few but the majority of dresses this time around featured a high neckline.
  5. Cloudy Shapes: The "Cloud" dress was a huge hit for this season because this was the first time we had seen Victoria do something like this. This too was highly praised.
  6. Loose Fitting Dresses: When we think of Victoria's collections, one word usually comes to mind... pencil. And that is because Victoria usually features mostly pencil dresses rather than loose fitting designs. In the fall 2010 collection Victoria incorporated several loose fitting designs.

Now that I've kind of summed up the previous two fall collections, what do you think will be included for fall 2011?
